Self-catering

Some of our students want to live on their own and cook, wash, and clean for themselves. However, we only suggest this for 18-year-olds or older. The school does not provide self-catering housing, but you may contact us for assistance.

Sharing a flat or a house

Flatshare or houseshare may be an option for long-term students. However, it is preferable for students to live with a Lake School homestay and get used to Oxford before looking for suitable housing in the city. The school does not organize flat-shares or house-shares; we can, however, assist and advise

Serviced studios/flats/houses

Here are some options if you want to rent private self-catering accommodation. On a short-term basis, the cost of renting a 1 or 2 bedroom serviced studio/apartment/house ranges from 400 to 700 GBP per week. The weekly linen and towel change, heating, lighting, water, electricity, council taxes, television.

If you choose self-catering housing, you won’t have as much opportunity to use your English since you won’t be eating and socializing with native speakers. You’ll also need to pay your rent and any utility bills or local taxes.

We still think that living in homestay accommodation is a fantastic way to talk and share cultures for adult students on short courses. Guests have their own key, are self-sufficient, and all meals are supplied (with the exception of lunch on school days).
